Jack Welch, MD, PhD

Jack Welch, MD, PhD, is Head of Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Cancers Therapeutics in the Clinical Investigations Branch of the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP), Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis, at the NCI. Dr. Welch is the assigned scientific liaison to the Eastern Clinical Oncology Group.

Dr. Welch came to CTEP from the European Organisation for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), where he was a senior clinical research physician, with a portfolio including gastrointestinal and lung cancers, as well as cutaneous lymphomas.

Dr. Welch received his B.S. in Biology from Georgetown University, his M.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He completed a pediatric residency at Georgetown University, and subsequent fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
