Igor Espinoza-Delgado received the MD degree from the Central University of Venezuela, where he also completed his residency training in internal medicine. He then was a visiting fellow in the Biological Response Modifiers Program of the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Espinoza-Delgado completed a medical oncology fellowship in the Medicine Branch of the NCI and conducted basic research in monocytes, inflammation, and cancer. He continued his work at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center as a member of the hematology-oncology faculty and also as the Associate Director of the Cancer Immunotherapy Program. He returned to the NIH and conducted translational and clinical research at the National Institute on Aging where he was the principle investigator of several clinical trials based on his laboratory work. He then joined the Investigational Drug Branch of CTEP and oversees a portfolio of agents including histone deacetylase inhibitors, demethylating agents, antisense, monoclonal antibodies and is interested in microenvironment-based cancer therapies. Dr. Espinoza-Delgado is a Senior Medical Staff at the NIH Clinical Center where he has attended the Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Clinic, NHLBI. He currently attends the Developmental Therapeutics Clinic, Medicine Branch. Dr. Espinoza-Delgado serves as the coordinator for the CTEP Visiting Physician Externship and has published 38 manuscripts in his area of interest.
