Carmen Allegra, MD

Physician Consultant with Emphasis on GI Malignancies

Dr. Carmen Allegra initially joined the Clinical Investigations Branch (CIB), CTEP, DCTD in April 2016 to provide expertise and oversight of the GI cancers clinical trials portfolio under an interagency agreement between NCI and the University of Florida Health where he was Chief of Oncology and Hematology, Department of Medicine. In 2021, Dr. Allegra became a Physician Medical Oncologist Consultant with the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis to support activities related to NCI extramural clinical trials, with an emphasis on GI malignancies. Dr. Allegra is well known to the NCI community and is also the former GI Disease Committee Chair for the NRG Oncology Group.
