Carmen Allegra, MD

Head — GI Cancer Therapeutics

Dr. Carmen Allegra joined the Clinical Investigations Branch (CIB), CTEP, DCTD in April 2016 to provide expertise and oversight of the GI cancers clinical trials portfolio under an interagency agreement between NCI and the University of Florida Health where he is Chief of Oncology and Hematology, Department of Medicine. Dr. Allegra is well known to the NCI community and is the former GI Disease Committee Chair for the NRG Oncology Group.

Dr. Allegra is dividing his time between his responsibilities at the University of Florida Health and NCI/CTEP. He is working with Dr. Bhupinder Mann and Dr. Meg Mooney as he transitions to his new responsibilities at CTEP.

About the Branch Chief

Meg Mooney, MD Meg Mooney, MD, MBA, became the Acting Associate Director of CTEP in December 2018, with oversight and coordination responsibilities for the programmatic, financial, and administrative functions for the entire CTEP program, which covers a broad, multidisciplinary, clinical research effort to coordinate nationwide phase 1-3 clinical trials programs testing new treatment approaches for cancer.
